Siri Paye 4x4 Jeep

This is the vehicle that actually gets you to Siri Paye, and it is a different proposition from everything else in our fleet.

The track from Shogran up to the meadows is 8 to 10 kilometres of rock and dirt with severe gradients, gaining roughly 1,700 feet to around 9,500 feet. It takes 45 minutes to an hour each way. That timing tells you what the surface is like. No car, crossover or soft-roader makes it, and even capable rental SUVs are often better left parked in Shogran.

Our local jeeps are built and maintained specifically for this track, with low-range four-wheel drive, suspension set up for the surface and tyres chosen for it. More importantly they come with drivers who run this route daily through the season and know every section of it, including where to stop for the views most visitors drive past.

Pricing is per jeep, not per person. A group of six splits it comfortably; a couple does not. If you are travelling as two, ask us about sharing a jeep with another party, which is common and works well.

The single most useful thing we can tell you is to leave Shogran by 7 AM. Cloud builds over the meadow through the morning and regularly closes it in completely by eleven, particularly in July and August. Booking a jeep for ten o'clock is how people end up driving an hour to photograph fog.

Waiting time at the meadow is available and should be agreed upfront so there is no discussion at the top. Expect no mobile signal and no card payment up there.

The track is seasonal, running roughly May to October. It closes under snow in winter and no operator will take you up, whatever you are told. Ask us for current status before planning around it.
