Getting around Shogran and the Kaghan Valley needs the right vehicle. A normal car or van is fine for the paved roads up to Shogran town and onward to Naran, but the famous Shogran → Siri Paye track is rough and steep and can only be done in a 4x4 jeep. This guide explains which vehicle to pick, the main routes, and how local fares work.
Long-distance car hire is usually charged per day (driver, and often fuel for fixed routes, arranged in advance), while the Siri Paye jeep is typically a fixed round-trip rate set at the local stand. Confirm whether fuel, driver food/lodging and toll are included before you start. Rates are higher on summer weekends and during Eid.
Yes. The track from Shogran to Siri Paye Meadows is rough and steep and can only be driven in a 4x4 jeep. Jeeps with experienced drivers are hired locally from the Shogran jeep stand, usually at a fixed round-trip rate.
A normal car reaches Shogran town comfortably on paved roads, and the route onward to Naran is also paved. However, you cannot take a regular car up the Siri Paye track — switch to a hired 4x4 jeep for that section.

The drive from Islamabad or Rawalpindi to Shogran town takes roughly 4–6 hours by car on paved roads, depending on traffic, weather and stops along the way.
The high-altitude Naran-to-Babusar Top road is generally open from about July to September. Outside these months it can close due to snow, so always confirm current road status before planning that leg.
