Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin

The Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin is the standard vehicle for groups of ten to thirteen heading into the Kaghan Valley, and it is the one we run most often on multi-day valley tours.

The Grand Cabin's advantage over a standard Hiace is the seating. Individual reclining seats with proper spacing rather than bench rows, which changes the experience completely on a five to six hour drive. Passengers arrive in Shogran able to enjoy the afternoon rather than needing to lie down.

The diesel engine is the right choice for this route. Torque matters far more than power when you are pulling thirteen people and their luggage up from Kiwai, and diesel delivers it low in the rev range where a loaded van actually lives. Fuel economy over a 500 km round trip is meaningfully better than a petrol equivalent.

Luggage space behind the last row is generous, which matters because thirteen people generate a lot of bags, and nobody wants them on laps for five hours.

On the Kiwai to Shogran climb, a Grand Cabin needs an experienced driver. It is long, it is heavy, and the hairpins require judgement about lines and about when to reverse for oncoming traffic. Our drivers on this vehicle are specifically chosen for that road, which is not something we treat casually.

It is not a 4x4. Siri Paye is done in local jeeps, typically two or three for a group this size, and we arrange them as part of the booking.

For extended tours we quote a fixed multi-day price including the driver, his accommodation and fuel, which is usually clearer than a per-day rate once you add up a four or five day itinerary. Tell us your group size and dates and we will work out whether one Grand Cabin or two smaller vehicles suits you better.
