The Toyota Hiace Hiroof is the workhorse of group travel to the northern areas, and it is what we send when the priority is fitting the maximum number of people and their luggage into one vehicle at a sensible cost.

The high roof is not a styling detail. It means standing headroom inside, which makes loading and moving around genuinely easier, and it creates a large luggage area above and behind the rear seats. For a group of fourteen going to Shogran for several days with warm clothing and camping gear, that space is the difference between comfortable and cramped.

Seating is bench-style rather than the individual reclining seats of a Grand Cabin. That is the main trade-off, and it is reflected in the price. For a student group, an office trip or an extended family who prioritise cost, it is the right call. For a group who will spend six hours in the vehicle and want to arrive fresh, the Grand Cabin is worth the difference.

The diesel engine handles the Kaghan road well. Loaded to fourteen, it climbs from Kiwai steadily rather than quickly, which is exactly right on that section.

Driver experience matters more on this vehicle than any other in the fleet. A Hiroof is tall, long and heavy, and the hairpins above Kiwai demand someone who has done them before. We assign accordingly.

No four-wheel drive, so Siri Paye is a separate jeep arrangement, usually three jeeps for a full Hiroof load. We book them alongside the van so the morning runs to schedule.
