2. Accommodation
Usually the largest single line. Shogran rates swing hard between a wet April weekday and a dry August weekend, and long weekends push them higher still. Room type, location (bazaar versus plateau) and whether the property has heating and a generator all move the price.

3. The Siri Paye jeep
This is the one people forget entirely when budgeting, and it matters. Jeeps are hired per vehicle, so the per-person cost depends almost entirely on how many of you there are. A group of six splits it comfortably; a couple does not.

4. Food
Generally the most predictable bucket. Bazaar food is inexpensive, hotel dining costs more, and the trout at Kiwai is a worthwhile splurge. Budget for three meals plus snacks per person per day and you will not be far off.
5. Everything else
Horse rides at Siri Paye, entry to any managed areas, tips, souvenirs, extra layers you did not pack, and the snacks you will buy at every stop. Individually small, collectively larger than people expect.
Where budgets go wrong
Forgetting the jeep. The single most common omission.
Assuming an ATM exists. Carry cash for the entire trip from Balakot. Card acceptance above Balakot is limited and unreliable.
Budgeting off-season rates for peak dates. Prices quoted online are often the off-season figure.
Not building a buffer day. Weather can cost you a morning, and if you extend by a night that is an unplanned room and meal.
Underestimating fuel on the climb. Sustained low-gear climbing consumes considerably more than motorway driving.
How to bring the cost down
- Travel in a group of four to six. Splits both the vehicle and the jeep.

- Stay in the bazaar rather than on the plateau if the view is not your priority.
